Church decline, church growth, or church online?
What direction for the future?
The long-term sociological trend of church decline contrasts with new church growth initiatives and the Covid-19 experience of church on-line. How do these relate to contemporary developments in ethics and theology?
Robin Gill is Emeritus Professor of Applied Theology at the University of Kent and an Honorary Provincial Canon of Canterbury Cathedral and Canon Theologian (and for three years Acting Dean) of Holy Trinity Cathedral, Gibraltar. For thirteen years he was chair of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s Medical Ethics Advisory Group. He is a member of the British Medical Association’s Medical Ethics Committee, of the Medical Research Council’s Stem Cell Bank Steering Committee and, previously, of the Nuffield Council on Bioethics. He is editor of the journal Theology and author or editor of some forty books on Christian ethics and sociological theology.
