Zoom — 5 October 2021 – Paul Parker
Here we stand
Faith, protest, and change
This talk is on Zoom only.
Why is it that people of faith are often at the forefront of social changes? Why do we find them at protests, on the barricades, or blocking the runway to prevent deportation flights? What are the links between freedom of expression, freedom of religion and the right to protest?
Paul Parker
Paul Parker is the senior staff member for Quakers in Britain, responsible for supporting around 470 Quaker meetings across Britain, and for their work on peace and social & climate justice. From this perspective he’ll explore how faith, protest and social change intersect, and why for many people of faith, protest and social change are part-and-parcel of their beliefs, not an added extra.
