Spiritual but not religious?
Is modern spirituality outgrowing religion?
While organised religion gets a bad name and church attendance declines, the interest in spirituality persists and grows, and atheists write appreciatively about it. What is spirituality, what forms has it taken in the past, and what are the consequences of its liberation from institutions?
Mike Bourke
Mike Bourke studied Modern Languages (German and French) at university and was ordained in the Church of England in 1967, serving in Grimsby, Hertfordshire and Bedfordshire and then as Bishop of Wolverhampton until retirement in 2006. A convinced European, he remains much involved in links with the German churches. He and Liz now live in Little Stretton. He is much involved in Stretton Climate Care and he is attempting to learn Welsh.
